Artwork
« on: July 15, 2014, 07:21:19 AM »

For the launch of the new game (which is really old Asherah with a new engine and sprites), we need some art.

There are basically eight environments/ecosystems in the game. They are

Meadow/Farm
Village/City
Woods
Swamps
Highlands
Mountains
Subterranean Things (Mines, Caves, etc.)
Desert

We need paintings (digital, but not pixel art) to put on the site and in promotional materials. There are some criteria.

1) Must be original (although you can, of course, use photographs and even other paintings for inspiration)
2) Must be beautiful (Barbizon/Hudson River School/Miyasaki-style landscapes). We will consider other styles if you are exceptionally proficient.
3) Dramatic impact with use of light, perspective (bird's eye view, worm's eye view), chiaroscuro.
4) You must be prepared to work with us to tailor the piece to our needs.
5) They have to all be one consistent, unified style.

We will agree to a price and terms of payment before you commence work, but you will be paid only if we accept the completed work and you release all rights (except fair use rights) to the work. Payment will be in monthly installments on a pro-rata basis out of the profits of the game. This is contract work, and you will be responsible for all taxes and other surcharges.

This is also an excellent way to build a professional portfolio if you have limited experience.

To be considered, please send an email (to the usual address - b@g) with at least one scan of an original landscape as an attachment. You can include links to other works you would like to show us. In the email include all relevant professional or educational experience (this can be as simple as "I did a two-week plein air workshop in Vermont the summer between fifth and sixth grade"). Be sure to include mention of any exhibits, prizes or scholarships you've won for your art work.
