Okay, very basic bottom line.
If I can't raise $130 a month to defray the expenses (see the post on that) the game cannot run and I'm sure none of you would tell the owner of any other company that they SHOULD run at a loss. Some of you have explained how I could save money but even the biggest reduction only amounted to $20. We did have some data loss on top of some pre-existing data issues, and I'm not sure I want to make the time commitment to fix it when there is so little support and interest.
I can put the game online for brief periods of time, but I can't have it online regularly until there's a commitment of support from a large enough group of people to a) pay the bills and b) make it a game. Three people a day who are there to chat is not the same as a game. If you want to chat, go to IRC. It's free.
There are other ideas, like a paid reunion. What would YOU PERSONALLY pay to play Asherah for a three day reunion? Usually it takes about 100 hours to set up a reunion that includes a couple of events. If you don't want to post a dollar amount here, message me on this forum. I'm not asking you to send money. It's more like "taking pledges".
Besides your potential financial commitment, the best way to ascertain interest is from the number of people who get on IRC. Don't log on and sit there 24 hours a day. Join when you can and leave at a reasonable time. Also that's where we're giving out information on upcoming games and doing beta testing for other games. So far there are about six regulars - three of them are staff.
The IRC channel is efnet #secrets-of-asherah.
